What is Counselling & Psychotherapy?

Counselling & Psychotherapy are therapeutic processes of interaction between a trained therapist and person who is seeking help. This help may be for a psychological issue, problem-solving, recovery, to learn coping strategies, emotional support or a quest for deeper self-understanding. Counselling & Psychotherapy offer an opportunity to be listened to and for you to offload in confidence, without judgement.  This process in itself can be very cathartic. Therapy is a collaborative working relationship between client and therapist, rather than a passive process - it’s something that clients get the most from if they engage with the work.

I’m trained in Counselling and Psychotherapy; so use both approaches in my work.

How might Counselling & Psychotherapy help me?

As your therapist, I will provide a safe space to explore and reflect on your situation and indeed yourself.  As I am coming from an objective viewpoint, I may bring fresh perspective to your situation.

The process of therapy is different to having a chat with a friend, who may be supportive, but is likely to offer opinions based on their experiences or values and be emotionally involved.  This can cause conflict between figuring out what we really want or wanting to please others.

Engaging in therapy has the potential to enable you to make desired changes to your life, enhance your well-being and provide you with coping strategies for your future.
